Growing up or I should say growing older is the greatest thing.
For one, there's much self pride from experiences and achievements that comes with it. You learn that however small or big your struggles have relatively been, they'll teach you a thing or more.
And then, at some point you begin to see people for who and what they really are.
For example my parents, I didn't think of them as people, they were my parents. For all I cared they even spoke an alien language.
Over the last year I've been through a lot of life changes. Through it all I realized a lot of junk and a lot of good stuff.
I've really started seeing people as people. Not just talking walking thingys.
I've sat down and thought about the things that happened to me in my life, analyzed them. Figured out what decisions were the right one's and what decisions could've been different.
It helps that my parents brought me up so I make my own decisions starting from a very young age. Like, I was never told to study. Not once. I don't remember hearing " Go study!!!". The phrase I heard and still hear in every house. Yeah I did flunk my way through middle school. But every time I hit the books it was because I wanted to and not because some one who pays rent forced me to.
Same with my brother. He was never told to study. Although he didn't need it. The guy was always on top of his class and still is as he works.
Me on the other hand, even beating wouldn't make me hit the books I think. Still I ended up pretty well some might say. There's still a ways to go though.
Anyway, I always thought talking about grades was a little immature and silly, past 1 st grade.
Some people still do it. Yeah, I care you made an A. Good job!!!
Discover a cure for pimples, then we'll talk.
Coming back to kiddie years...
Ok yeah I was forced to do other things like wash my hands after playing in the mud. But decisions that affected my life were left to be made by none other than me.
So now all supposedly grown up or in the process of it ... I go with my own intuition and my parents respect that. Suggestions are only when I ask for them and they are offered respectfully enough as suggestions only.
I have a lot of respect for people like that in my life. People who treat each other as different people and not a reflection or an expectation of themselves.
All the little years I spent complaining about the way they did things, damn, now they make sense.
Dad always said don't borrow money from family or friends. If you do then don't sleep a single night till you return it. People will respect you for it.
This is one thing I've lived up to and now I understand the importance of it. Especially as a woman where it is expected that someone else will pay your dues. I think every self respecting brod should be in a position of giving rather than taking.
Live within your means. If Aunt Sally is a millionaire it doesn't mean I can go out and buy a Calvin Klien underwear everyday and expect her to take care of the tab. If Lux i s all I can buy then Lux is what I have.
In a lot of situations we "react" to peoples point of view instead of "listening". I've noticed that some people are diplomatic/manipulative with what they have to say. Then there's some people are just plain and crude. The material in most cases is the same. The point is now I can see past the hazy window. I can see the material and not how it's presented to me.
And also my mom's a damn good cook. I never paid attention to her food until I made it myself. All her recipes, wow. And the lady never brags about her cooking. Hmmm modesty.
Yeah we still fight about silly things but who doesn't. And I end up saying man they're crazy. But for teaching me a million things I use every day I thank them. Now my two good friends. They've put their ego's aside and let their little girl grow up.
Perversions of my grammatically incoherent mind. Rwarr!
