I just realized that today is one of those few times in my life that I said what I wanted to say and when I wanted to say it. All on my own terms. No teary eye for guilt of hurting someone. No shivery voice thinking what if my lines don’t come out right. No looking back. One more point on the bitch meter, yay!
Sometimes it’s good to be a bitch, I’ve realized that way late in life. It’s now almost a rule I live by, I try to put in good use when I need to.
Today, for instance, someone who works with me, came into my office and started taking my equipment and using it. After that he just threw it on my desk and walked away. All this, while I was in my office, right under my nose. Hullo-whatever happened to evolution? Whatever happened to not crossing that line. It was like some uninvited guest messed up my house and left it so I can clean up.
At first I thought it was petty, I should let it go. Then I realized this was something so wrong in my eyes, that if I didn’t say something I wouldn’t sleep at night. I’d be rehearsing what I should’ve said and how I should’ve said it, all night. Blah Blah Blah.
I went up to him totally unrehearsed and said – “Please don’t touch my equipment without asking me”. Then he went “Chill out it’s not like I’m stealing it, don't get defensive". [In my mind I was thinking you're a brainless moron who was dropped on your head, and while on that long drop you learned a few of words like - chill out and defensive. All so you think it makes you look like less of a moron.]
Then I said-“Look, I don’t care what you do with it. For all I care you can sell it on EBay, but please ask me before taking the liberty of entering my office and playing”.
Having said that I guess he got that I was serious or who cares, I had said my piece, he said ok. I said ok and walked back to my office.
This is the one lot of people I’d rather not have the pleasure of dealing with. Then there’s that other lot- the self proclaimed male and female divas. To them life is one big hotel with free room service. Sure I’m spoiled but in my own turf and sure I love room service too. But I don't expect it in someone else’s office or the very least in someone else’s home.
People take each other for granted way too often. Please don't misinterpret my respectfulness for a maid wannabe a waitress syndrome. Like one of my friends said respect is a two way street. Respect my space and I will respect yours.
Life is good and people are nice. For all other cases there's always pepper spray!
